This time I want to introduce you a jewel I found while browsing the web looking for XML-RPC information for one of the classes I lecture. The book is called “Processing XML with Java” and it’s written by Elliotte Rusty Harold. The whole book is available online for FREE here (–LEGALLY–), so… if you’re looking to increase your XML + Java knowledge for free…. this might well be one of your best opportunities to do it. As always, if you like it, please buy it [Amazon, Barnes & Noble].
Enjoy the reading!
Today, Nullriver Software posted an update about NetShare status in their webpage, that reads:
“We’ve finally gotten in contact with Apple. Looks like the lack of communication was due to automated e-mail systems being employed on both ends, which resulted in e-mails being lost in transit. We’re working with Apple to get NetShare back up on the AppStore.”
This makes us believe in Apple again and hope for the prompt re-release of this wonderful piece of software.
Stay tuned
Apple decided to eliminate the application NetShare from their official iTunes Store within hours of its release. The aforementioned application, developed by Nullriver, provides a SOCKS5 proxy that allows users to turn their iPhone into a modem, making the tethering process easy, even for multiple computers at a time.
It should be noted that there are plenty of how-to tether your iPhone guides on the Internet, its just a matter of googling it and having a bit of patience to do the configurations, so anyway, iPhone users interested in this functionality are STILL being able to use it, however, it’s no longer as easy as purchasing an app that will do all the configurations for you. Anyhow, you should take into account that if you are an AT&T customer, you will violate your terms of service by tethering your iPhone.
Nullriver, a Canadian software company, is best known to many of us for their Installer application meant for jailbroken iPhones. Since official applications (the ones developed with the official iPhone API) are to be distributed exclusively on the official iTunes Store, Nullriver isn’t making NetShare available from its website.
This kind of move from Apple only causes more jailbroken iPhones… so I hope Apple to reconsider their posture about this issue soon…
